Six employees from three departments of the San Carlos City government tested positive for illegal drugs following a random drug test.
Mayor Renato Gustilo confirmed that the six individuals who tested positive are job order employees.
In line with the city government’s strict anti-drug policy, any job order employee who tests positive will face termination.
A total of 106 city government employees from the Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Office, the Public Market and Slaughterhouse Department, and the City Sports Office underwent drug testing, conducted by the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC) and the San Carlos City Doctors Hospital (SanDoc) on Monday, August 12.
This also marks the first time that SanDoc has been selected as the laboratory for drug testing, according to SCCADAC Secretariat Ana Liza Macaraya.
Macaraya also indicated that additional drug tests would be conducted soon, as more departments are invited to participate.
“This initiative aligns with the Civil Service Commission’s mandate for a drug-free environment in both government and private workplaces,” Macaraya said.
