A 62-year-old man died after he was hit by a delivery van loaded with boxes of instant noodles at Barangay Tabao Proper in Negros Occidental’s Valladolid town yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Arnaldo Amboboyog, a resident of the town’s Barangay Bagumbayan.
Valladolid police chief, Major Eric Doronila, said the delivery van was following a motorcycle while heading south around 6:00 a.m.
The van driver was about to overtake the motorcycle, when the latter suddenly turned left without signaling.
This caused the van to fall into the ditch and hit the waiting shed, where Amboboyog took a rest after a morning jog.
Amboboyog was rushed to the hospital, but he was dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the delivery van driver and its two passengers sustained no injuries, while the motorcycle driver sustained minor injuries.
Doronila said there had been a conversation between the van driver and Amboboyog’s family./WDJ
