There are 184 fire-prone areas in Bacolod City, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
City fire marshal, Superintendent Jenny Mae Masip said an area is considered fire-prone if the houses are close together and the road is narrow enough for a fire truck to pass through in case of a fire.
Barangay Sum-ag has the highest number of fire-prone areas with 14.
It is followed by Barangay Mandalagan with 13, Barangay Villamonte (11), Barangay Bata (10), and Barangay Banago (nine).
Masip said BFP-Bacolod will intensify its campaign on fire safety in the villages following the two fire incidents last week.
It is important to conduct intensive fire safety lectures or educate the public on how to avoid fires, she added.
