Negrense Canino leads DLSU over Lyceum

The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers opened their 2024 Kadayawan Women’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament campaign with a 25-10, 23-25, 25-16, and 25-15 victory over the Lyceum of the Philippines Lady Pirates at the USEP Gym in Davao City on Thursday night, August 1.

Negrense Angel Canino spearheaded the offense for the Lady Spikers, while Ilongga Amie Provido and Shevana Laput also made their contributions to secure the four-set victory in over two hours.

After dropping a tight second set, the Lady Spikers bounced back in the third set, establishing a 20-14 lead en route to a 25-16 set win, capped by a powerful hit from Canino.

The Lady Spikers continued their run in the fourth set, as they quickly jumped to an 18-10 advantage.

The Lady Pirates countered with their attacks, but Canino finished off the game with a through the block hit.

In the first game, the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights scored a 25-14, 26-24 and 25-18 straight set victory over the Davao Eagles.
