Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will take a closer look into the incidents involving Chinese nationals who allegedly took pictures of government-issued identification cards from residents in Bacolod City.

Lacson said he had instructed Colonel Rainerio de Chavez, director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), to conduct an investigation into the alleged information theft.

Lacson expressed concerns that it was not just tricycle drivers who were being targeted but anyone.

He also emphasized that his administration will not tolerate any form of identity theft or illegal activity that threatens the security of residents.

The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.

The Bacolod City Police Office was still investigating the incident where a Chinese-looking woman allegedly approached 15 tricycle drivers in Bacolod, to take pictures of their driver’s licenses in exchange for P400 each.

The woman was reportedly renting a stall inside a shopping mall.

Police are yet to determine the whereabouts of the woman after she did not return to her apartment and her store./JB, WDJ
