The lawyer of former Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnolfo Teves, Jr. said they have already filed their appeal before the Timor-Leste Court of Appeals for the reversal of its extradition decision.
Atty. Ferdinand Topacio said the appeal was filed last Friday, July 26.
“Prosecutor-General of TL [Timor-Leste] has 30 days to respond to the appeal,” Topacio said.
Topacio also noted they have filed two motions before the court.
“There are also several other appeals regarding various other incidents,” Topacio said.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) initiated the extradition of Teves, so he could face multiple murder charges for the killing of Governor Roel Degamo and nine others.
The DOJ previously expressed its confidence that Teves will return to the country in July after winning the extradition case in Timor-Leste.
Teves was released from house arrest in Timor-Leste late last month. (ABS-CBN News)
