After Negros Occidental’s Pontevedra-native center Henjz Gabriel “Kobe” Demisana, another Negros Occidental-based player decided to leave the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles.
Bacolod City-native forward Raffy Celis has reportedly left the Blue Eagles camp recently after being sparingly used by head coach Tab Baldwin in UAAP Season 86 last year.
According to a report by Fastbreak website, citing a source, the 6-foot-3 forward is reportedly heading to either Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights or College of St. Benilde Blazers.
The Blue Eagles reportedly offered Celis to move to another Manny V. Pangilinan-supported team, the reigning NCAA men’s basketball champions San Beda University Red Lions, but the player refused.
Celiz was a former standout of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles in the CESAFI tournament before he was recruited by Baldwin to join the Blue Eagles last year.
Celis and Demisana are the latest Blue Eagles to depart the team, aside from Mason Amos (now with the De La Salle University Green Archers), Kai Balunggay, Paul Garcia, Jared Brown, Geo Chiu, and Jason Credo, who have all turned professionals./ASC, WDJ
