NIR’s secondary booters rule nat’l PRISAA

The Negros Island Region’s (NIR) secondary boys’ football team emerged as champions in the 2024 PRISAA National Games held at the Bicol University in Legaspi City, Albay.

The NIR, handled by head coach Noel de Oca and Rinelle de Oca, captured the secondary boys’ football division following a 1-0 victory over host Bicol Region in the finals.

The NIR secondary boys’ football team was composed of players from University of St. La Salle (USLS), STI-West Negros University, and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

In swimming, tertiary athletes Mark DeSimone (400-meter individual medley) and Carla Labayen (100-meter backstroke) took home a silver and bronze medal, respectively.

USLS’ Juliana Dejilla also claimed a silver medal for the NIR delegation in the secondary girls’ 50-meter freestyle.

Meanwhile, USLS-Bacolod tertiary women’s basketball team salvaged a bronze medal finish after defeating Region 1 – Ilocos Region in the third place game./ASC, WDJ
