A businessman was allegedly shot to death inside his vehicle in Bacolod City’s Barangay Villamonte on Monday, July 22.

The victim was identified as 59-year-old Jun Alaba, a resident of the city’s Barangay Estefania.

Police Station 4 commander Captain Francis Depasucat said Alaba was with his companion, 34-year-old Ronel Rafael, inside the car.

Rafael was allegedly angered after he was asked about uncollected remittances, which resulted in a heated argument.

Depasucat said a commotion happened, as Alaba was allegedly shot.

The victim sustained a shot wound in his stomach.

He was rushed to a hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

A fired cartridge, two dud cartridges, and a short firearm with a magazine were recovered from the crime scene.

The recovered firearm was turned over for ballistic examination and identification.

Police said Rafael underwent paraffin tests on Monday night.

Homicide charges were already filed against Rafael, who is under police custody.

An investigation is ongoing./WDJ
