Negrense swimmer Cabayaran adds 2 medals in Palaro

Negrense swimmer Alexi Kouzenye Cabayaran chipped in two more medals for Western Visayas in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa swimming competition being held in Cebu City.

The Bacolod Trinity Christian School standout finished with a gold medal in the secondary girls’ 100-meter freestyle before settling for silver in the 50-meter freestyle event.

Cabayaran, who previously represented the country in international competition, earlier captured two gold medals in the secondary girls’ 50-meter backstroke and 4×500 freestyle relay events.

Negrense Chrishia Mabasa, along with Ilonggas Karen Bala-an, Ayena Cabalfin and Princess Lachica, captured a gold medal in the elementary girls’ 4×400-meter relay event.

On the other hand, Mico Villaran fell short of adding another gold to his collection after finishing with a silver medal in the secondary boys’ 4×400-meter relay with Ilonggos Kent Burdan, Kian Labar and Jhon Masuhol.

Negrenses Cloui Loquias and Chammy Requiron, as well as Ilonggas Shane Bullos and Rhiajane Gardose ended with a bronze medal in the secondary girls’ 4×400-meter relay event.

In tennis, La Carlota City’s Kathlyn Bugna won a gold medal in the elementary girls’ singles event, Bacolodnon Maria Divinagracia added a silver in the secondary girls’ singles, and La Carlota’s Jasmine Jaran ended with bronze in the secondary girls’ singles.

In table tennis, Lexi Marcella and Bethany Esmeno won a gold in the elementary girls’ doubles, while La Carlota’s Dirk Atilano and Antiqueno Josh Canalin got a bronze in the secondary boys’ doubles event.

In gymnastics, Bacolodnons Reaiah Tan of Bacolod Tay Tung won a silver in the elementary girls’ balance beam, while Sarah Lee Thompson clinched a bronze medal in the secondary girls’ uneven bars./ASC, WDJ
