The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary has seen an improvement in its income and collection after show-cause orders (SCOs) were issued to its former resort manager and five others who failed to liquidate cash advances.

Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Officer and Acting Provincial Administrator Atty. Alberto Nellas, Jr. said the resort’s financial situation improved after the liquidation process was initiated.

Nellas said the Provincial Administrator’s Office and Provincial Treasurer’s Office have facilitated the collection of necessary financial documents from the resort.

He added that Mambukal Resort’s former manager, Provincial Tourism Office head Cheryl Decena, and the five disbursement officers have been cooperative in finalizing the investigation report.

Earlier, an SCO was issued to Decena over her failure to liquidate cash advances when she was the resort manager.

The SCO was also issued against five resort employees due to their alleged lapses in financial management, which included improper disbursements of funds.

Earlier, Nellas said the Mambukal Resort generated P30,375,712 in revenues last year, including income from catering services and related collections, but its expenditures reached P33,918,904.12./JB, WDJ
