Thunderbolts rule Alpha Foxies volley tourney

The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts volleyball squads showed their dominance in the 1st Alpha Foxies Volleyball League held at the Villamonte Gymnasium in Bacolod City.

The Thunderbolts’ 10-and-under team emerged as champions in the 10-and-under category after prevailing over the DVT team in the finals match.

Samantha Valenciano bagged the Most Valuable Player and Best Middle Blocker award in the division, while Rain Lim claimed the Best Setter award.

Other members of the Thunderbolts’ 10-and-under team are Mhegan Ordaniel, Andrea Chua, Jeydi Panisales, Jana Cadeliña, Choloe Depalubos, and Ayana Palabrica.

Before defeating DVT in the gold medal match, the Thunderbolts’ 10-and-under team first defeated the Ball Movers, Maao, Darnatics, and STA.

The Thunderbolts’ 13-and-under team also ruled in the 13-and-under girls’ division, after defeating the Silay squad in the gold medal match.

Regine Wongyan was named Most Valuable Player and Best Opposite Spiker, while Mari Cacho and Chinnie Millama bagged the Best Middle Blocker and Best Setter awards, respectively.

Also part of the Thunderbolts 13-and-under team are Annikha Chua, Czarina Ang, Mhegan Ordaniel, Edrianna Escultura, Gail Ordaniel, Heart Abucion, and Morgan Sonota.

On their way to the championship match, the Thunderbolts 13-and-under team prevailed over Elite-A, the Ball Movers, STA, Elite-B, Maao, and Himamaylan teams.

Both the Thunderbolts’ 10-and-under and 13-and-under teams were handled by head coach Roberto “Biboy” Calamba, Jr.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School also participated in the 15-and-under and 18-and-under categories, winning the championship in the former and settling for a runner-up finish in the latter./ASC, WDJ
