A soldier was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a bus at Barangay Manalad in Negros Occidental’s Ilog town on Saturday morning, July 6.

Police identified the fatality as 33-year-old Private First Class John Leo Saldua, a resident of Bago City.

Saldua was assigned to the 15th Infantry Battalion, based in Cauayan town.

Ilog police chief, Lt. Rygie Pigar said Saldua lost control of his motorcycle while he was on his way to Bacolod City around 6:30 a.m.

Saldua suddenly overtook a tricycle in front of him, but he collided with the oncoming bus, crashing into its windshield.

Pigar said the victim died on the spot, as he succumbed to severe head injuries due to the collision.

Bus passengers were unharmed in the incident.

The 32-year-old bus driver was released from police detention./WDJ
