Maicah Larroza is ready to take on any playing role given by the team that selects her in the inaugural PVL Rookie Draft at a hotel in Manila tonight.

According to the former De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers volleybelle, she is willing to adjust to the system of the team she will join in the professional league.

“Depende po sa team na maka-pick sa akin kung outside hitter or libero. Kahit anong role naman po ‘yung ibigay sa akin, ie-embrace ko naman po siya,” Larroza said.

“[Ang] mao-offer ko sa kanila, sa magiging teammates ko … Siguro they can depend on me every time na ipapasok ako sa court, and kaya kong mag-lead offensively man or defensively inside the court,” she added.

Larroza, who recently graduated magna cum laude at DLSU, further said that she is motivated by her Lady Spikers teammates Thea Gagate, Julia Coronel and Leila Cruz being in the conversation for the Top 3 picks in the draft.

“Added motivation ‘yun syempre as teammates ko sila, parang gusto ko ring makalaro sa level of play nila,” said Larroza, who stands at 5-foot-3 without shoes.

Larroza had her moments for the Lady Spikers in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament, stepping up in the absence of Angel Canino due to a “non-volleyball-related injury.”

The Bacolod City native volleybelle particularly shone in the DLSU game against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, achieving a triple-double with 12 points, 14 digs and 10 receptions.

Larroza is one of the three Western Visayas-based rookie aspirants in the PVL, aside from fellow Bacolodnon Caroline Santos and Ilongga Roma Mae Doromal./ASC, WDJ
