Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson emphasized the crucial role of community partnership in the transition to renewable energy, during the Renewable Energy Appreciation Day held at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.

“Everyday people matter more than most people realize they form the backbone of our society,” Lacson said.

“No matter what we, leaders and development planners and workers, think and do, in the end, we will be judged by how well we are able to, not only serve our people well, but to effectively partner with them in bringing about empowering and sustainable development,” he added.

Lacson hopes that the use of renewable energy will not only provide electricity, but also help minimize power costs.

The event aims to promote the provincial government’s commitment to providing a Reliable, Renewable, Available, Accessible, Affordable, and Sustainable Energy System in Negros Occidental by 2030.

Several renewable energy systems were distributed to some organizations, including the Gaid Mambugsay ISF Project Minority Association, the Negros Economic Development Foundation, and the University of St. La Salle Agribusiness Training Farm.

Lacson said this initiative will continue to drive progress towards a sustainable energy future for the province.

“This is our way of pushing renewable energy to our partners from the academe, non-government organizations or people’s organizations,” Lacson said./JB, WDJ
