A fresh college graduate drowned in the river at Barangay Nanca in Negros Occidental’s E.B. Magalona town over the weekend.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Renz Llorente, a resident of Silay City’s Barangay 4.

E.B. Magalona police chief, Captain Markelly Laganipa, said Llorente and his friends went swimming in the Malogo River to celebrate his graduation.

Llorente drowned due to strong currents triggered by rain, Laganipa said.

He was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Llorente graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Office Administration from the Silay Institute Inc. on June 19./WDJ
