A barangay councilor died after his motorcycle was hit by a 10-wheeler truck in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago on Thursday morning, June 13.

Police identified the fatality as 60-year-old Kagawad Jomarie Maniego of the said village.

Police Major Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit, said Maniego was driving his motorcycle, but failed to notice the approaching truck, carrying an empty container van, while crossing the road.

The truck dragged the motorcycle and Maniego fell to the ground, resulting in fatal injuries.

Sarona said the truck was on its way to the city’s Bredco Port when the accident happened.

The truck driver was subjected to further investigation./WDJ
