At least 12 families or 42 individuals at Purok Santol in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mandalagan lost their homes in a fire on Wednesday afternoon, June 5.

City fire marshal, Chief Inspector Stephen Jardeleza, said two houses were destroyed while one was partially damaged following the fire which started at 1:30 p.m.

Jardeleza said the blaze started from the kitchen of Jasmin Nuñez’s two-story house.

The houses were mostly made of light materials.

An initial investigation showed that the blaze was caused by a butane canister.

A fire out was declared at 2:46 p.m.

Jardeleza said the damage due to the fire was placed at P630,000./WDJ
