A security guard was shot to death on Locsin Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay 37 on Saturday night, June 1.

Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Benjie Fajardo, a resident of the city’s Barangay Banago.

Police Station 1 commander Major Elmer Bonilla said Fajardo was walking on his way home from duty when an unidentified person, on board a motorcycle, approached and shot him.

The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and head.

He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Five fired cartridges and a deformed slug, believed to be from a .9 mm caliber firearm, were recovered from the crime scene.

Bonilla said Fajardo had been receiving threats before the incident.

He also revealed that prior to the incident, Fajardo received a phone call from someone and they had an argument.

“Kagab-i prior sang insidente, nabatian sang mga upod sang biktima nga may nagatawag sa iya cellphone kag naglalisanay sila,” Bonilla said.

“Isa ini sa mga bagay nga ginalantaw sang kapulisan nga possible makatudlo sa suspect,” he added.

The police also obtained footage from a closed-circuit television camera in the area for the identification of the suspect./JB, WDJ
