Bianca Juliana Seroy of Negros Occidental took home two gold medals in the secondary girls’ athletics event of the 2024 WVRAA Meet at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City over the weekend.
The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts standout captured a gold medal in the triple jump event with 11.61 meters and long jump with 5.39 m.
Seroy’s teammate Angel Sanjorjo bagged a silver medal in the shot put.
Negros Occidental was also dominant in elementary swimming with gold medals from Zyra Villarino (200-m freestyle and 200-m individual medley); Milkshake Panagsagan (50-m breaststroke); Savannah Secuelan (50-m butterfly); Enzo Miguel Leyva (200-m freestyle); Theodore Tanpinco (200-m individual medley); and the quartet of Ma. Teresa Coscolluela, Zoe Lim, Ann Villaceran, and Mikka Jarmin (200-m freestyle relay).
Negrense tankers also bagged gold in secondary events from Maxene Uy (200-m individual medley and 200-m backstroke), Alexi Cabayaran (200-m freestyle and 200-m freestyle relay with Juliana Dejilla, Chrisella Los Banes and Anika Matiling), and Mark Dustin Yu (200-m freestyle).
Also with golds are Aklanon swimmers Nuche Ibit (elementary 50-m butterfly); Rhomrick Cister (elementary 50-m breaststroke); Jose Bassig (elementary 50-m butterfly); Bassig, Cister, Jasper Melgaso, and Jerrick delos Reyes (elementary 200-m freestyle relay); and Lance Magno (secondary 50-m breaststroke).
Iloilo also made a splash in swimming from secondary tankers Dee Vianne Catedrilla (50-m breaststroke); Van Isidore Bartolome (50-m butterfly); Frenz Pasadilla (200-m individual medley); Jan Pasadilla (200-m backstroke); and Frenz, Hans Parreno, Mateo Palero, Ven Bartolome (200-m freestyle relay).
In gymnastics, Leighanne Jizmundo and Yvainne Briones had gold-silver medal finishes in three secondary girls’ RG events, while they joined forces with Ma. Tresia Resco to rule the team event.
Briones also bagged a gold medal in the secondary girls’ RG Hoop event, while Ilongga Ma. Christine Joy Tanaleon captured a golden finish in the secondary girls’ ribbon event.
In pencak silat, Aklan’s Zyche Mae Jizmundo bagged a gold medal in the secondary girls’ tunggal event, while Princess Kean Jizmundo and Stephanie Cipriano ruled the secondary girls’ ganda event.
Iloilo’s Froilan Tabucuran took home two gold medals in the secondary boys’ tunggal event and the secondary boys’ ganda event with Vince Floyd Tamonan.
In billiards, Negros Occidental’s Alexandra Gabrines won the secondary girls’ eight-ball gold, Antique’s Francis Medeja topped the men’s side, while Negrense Isabella Ejercito bagged a gold in the secondary girls’ 60-m archery event./ASC, WDJ
