A government employee assigned to the Bacolod City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) could face administrative charges for allegedly falsifying an official receipt.
City Legal Office (CLO) head Romeo Carlos Ting, Jr. said a show-cause order will be issued against the employee, who was already removed from the CTO, pending an investigation into the incident.
Jose Antonio Robello, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) deputy officer-in-charge, said a traffic violator earlier complained that he received the falsified official receipt.
He was apprehended by BTAO for not wearing a helmet and no driver’s license on April 18.
Robello said the violator paid P1,300, but the receipt showed P300.
The cashier allegedly wrote the number “1” to make the amount appear as P1,300.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the incident is apparently a case of tampering and a form of corruption.
“Daw gusto gid nila may ma-sampolan, and we will continue doing this,” Benitez said.
“This fight against corruption na limpyohon naton ang aton gobyerno, indi lang akon responsibilidad but aton tanan,” he added./WDJ
