Team Delimondo of Bianca Lizares and Begie Villanueva emerged as champions in the 1st Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson Beach Volleyball Tournament women’s open category recently held at Bukid 14 in Negros Occidental’s Don Salvador Benedicto town.
The tandem of Lizares and Villanueva captured the women’s division crown after defeating the City Design duo of Erjane Magdato and Perper Cosas in the one-game finale.
The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos’ (UNO-R) pair of Kyla Gallego and Edrilyn Carbajosa finished in third place in the competition, while Marixi Maligmat and Johana Puzon of Michael Kars ended in fourth.
Team Delimondo received P20,000 top prize plus medals, City Design bagged P10,000 plus medals, UNO-R captured P5,000 plus medals, and Michael Kars went home with P3,000 plus certificates.
The two-day tournament organized by Negros Federation of Volleyball Enthusiasts, Inc. was participated by 10 teams consisting of different beach volleyball clubs in the Visayas.
Among other beach volleyball squads were VNJ Sports A – Cebu City, VMA Global College – A, LFB, Dr. Jack – Iloilo City, VNJ Sports B – Cebu City, and VMA Global College – B.
The tournament is in consonance with the provincial government’s “Abanse Negrense” grassroots development sports program under the Office of Provincial Sports Coordinator headed by Anthony Agustin./ASC, WDJ
