A businessman was shot to death on Sofia Gonzaga Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay Estefania early yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as 49-year-old Elson Cepeda, a bar owner and a resident of the said village.

Police Station 4 head Captain Francis Depasucat said Cepeda and his wife on board a sports utility vehicle dropped by a convenience store to buy food before going home.

When Cepeda was about to return to his vehicle, two unidentified individuals fired gunshots at him, police said.

The suspects fled the scene on board a vehicle.

The victim’s wife was unharmed.

Cepeda was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center in the city where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered several empty bullets from the crime scene.

An investigation is ongoing./JB, WDJ
