Residential fire leaves P3-M damage, 47 families affected

An estimated P3 million worth of damage was caused by a residential fire at Purok Interior in Bacolod City’s Barangay 18 on Saturday morning, April 13, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod said.

BFP-Bacolod said 16 houses were destroyed while three were damaged in the fire that affected 47 families, composed of 144 residents.

It reached third alarm status before a fire out was declared at 10:14 a.m.

The BFP said the fire started in Encarnacion Rodriguez’s house.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, a senior citizen was killed in a fire at Barangay San Jose in Negros Occidental’s Binalbagan town also on Saturday.

The BFP-Binalbagan identified the fatality as 76-year-old Salome del Prado, a resident of Hacienda Garazon.

It was reported that Prado was trapped inside her burning house.

Around 40 residents were affected.
