A tricycle driver was found dead at Barangay Bagroy in Negros Occidental’s Binalbagan town yesterday morning.

Binalbagan police chief, Major Randy Babor, said the victim was identified as Anthony Toledo, a resident of Isabela town’s Barangay 4.

Babor said a biker passing by the area heard the ringtone from the victim’s phone.

He traced the sound and found Toledo’s lifeless body in the sugarcane field.

An initial police investigation suggests the possible motive behind the incident could be robbery-holdup, as they are looking into the possibility that the tricycle driven by the victim was targeted.

However, the motive could also be a personal grudge, as the victim had multiple stab wounds on different parts of his body, indicating that the suspect might have been someone the victim knew.

The police already have a person of interest in the murder.

Babor said Toledo had no known enemies and no one had reported any threats to his life.

The victim’s family last saw him alive on April 9./JB, WDJ
