More than 20 kiosks along Carmen Avenue in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis have been demolished during road clearing operations by the City Legal Office’s City Enforcement Team (CET).

CET head Rey Demisana said most establishments demolished were stalls selling ready-to-wear clothes along the road.

Demisana said the operations are in preparation for the Panaad Sa Negros Festival from April 15 to 21.

He admitted that there was a little tension between CET and Alijis chief Deogracias dela Vega as the team allegedly failed to inform the latter about the clearing operations.

The CET head claimed that Dela Vega would file charges against the demolition team.

Demisana said he would welcome any charges that would be filed against them.

He added that they called for a meeting with the village chief, as they received several complaints against the establishments that cause obstructions.

These are illegal structures because they have encroached almost two meters of the road, he said.

He added that there are several establishments which also need to be demolished as they cause traffic congestion./MS, WDJ
