President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. assured former Congressman Arnolfo Teves, Jr. that there was no threat to his life and he could safely return to the Philippines to face the charges against him.

Teves, the alleged mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo along with several others, was arrested in Timor-Leste last month.

“Sa lahat ng mga sinasabi ni Teves, na takot siya sa buhay niya, wala kaming report na ganun. Walang nagbabanta sa buhay niya,” Marcos told reporters in an interview, adding that the proceedings on his charges will be fair.

Teves is currently under the custody of the Timorese police while his extradition to the Philippines is being worked out by authorities between the two countries. (PNA)
