An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) squad leader was arrested at Barangay Andres Bonifacio’s Hacienda Tresing in Negros Occidental’s Cadiz City over the weekend.

Police identified the alleged rebel as Eliseo “Ermie/Juan” Velarmia, a resident of Barangay San Jose’s Sitio Aglolomot in Toboso town.

Cadiz police said Velarmia is believed to be one of the insurgents involved in an ambush at Sitio Aluyan in the city’s Barangay Caduhaan on March 7, 2011.

Velarmia’s arrest warrant was issued by Cadiz Regional Trial Court Branch 60 Judge Renato Muñez.

The arrest warrant is non-bailable.

Velarmia is currently detained at the city police station./DGB, WDJ
