The dead body recovered by police in Negros Occidental’s Don Salvador Benedicto town last Saturday, March 9, has now been identified.

The victim, 30-year-old Allen Palmos, was a resident of Bacolod City’s Barangay Estefania.

Estefania village chief Engineer Jerry Tingson said Palmos was identified as a drug personality in the village, and has also been involved in several snatching incidents.

Tingson knows that Palmos had previously served jail time.

In a separate statement from Palmos’ friend, he claimed that the victim served several jail terms — at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in the city’s Barangay Taculing, a one-year prison sentence at the Negros Occidental District Jail, and another one-year jail term in Muntinlupa City.

His jail terms were all due to charges related to illegal drugs and theft.

According to the municipal police, Palmos’ remains were found along the national highway at Purok Cobra in the town’s Barangay Igmayaan last Saturday around 9:00 a.m.

Police said Palmos was hogtied with a cable tie, and his head was covered with a shirt.

The victim also had a slash wound on his neck.

Tingson added that Palmos was the only male sibling of the three children, and all of them were raised by their grandmother as their father passed away early, while their mother abandoned them when they were still kids.

Palmos’ remains have since been turned over to his family after he was positively identified by his sister over the weekend.

Police are investigating as to who was behind Palmos’ murder./DGB, WDJ
