Various anti-drug operations in Western Visayas seized over P21 million worth of suspected shabu during the first two-week stint of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) acting Regional Director Brigadier General Jack Wanky since he assumed office on February 19.
The high-impact accomplishment was recorded in the second week of his assumption, covering the period February 26 to March 2, when the 40 operations resulted in the arrest of 55 drug personalities and confiscation of over P14 million shabu.
In an interview, Wanky said he has talked to various operatives and, so far, he does not see the need to introduce new strategies to the anti-drug campaign because the operations are continuous.
“They are on the right track; they are on the right path. I am an intelligence practitioner. Also, I am an operative and I have assessed their direction. What is important is for them to be supervised properly to be successful in their operations,” he said.
Wanky assured them of support for their financial and logistical requirements, so they would be more inspired in their job.
Of the over P14 million high-impact accomplishment, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the Iloilo City Police Office contributed the highest with more than P5.98 million shabu for 880 grams of shabu in the province and over P5.64 million for 830.69 grams of shabu from the city.
Other recoveries included P12,240 worth of shabu from Aklan, P34,000 from Capiz, P2.03 million from Negros Occidental, and P322,320 from Bacolod.
PNP chief Benjamin Acorda, Jr. ordered Wanky to sustain the campaign against illegal drugs in the region when he presided over the turnover ceremony at the PRO-6 headquarters on February 19. (PNA)
