The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) central office established a task force to investigate the dumping of mutilated body parts in Bacolod City recently.

NBI-Bacolod head Atty. Renoir Baldovino said the task force is composed of their lead investigators and agents from Luzon.

Baldovino said he cannot say as to when they will begin their operation.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City Police Office Station 2 commander, Captain Glenn Montaño, said they will again coordinate with the NBI to check closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.

Montaño said they will also check CCTV footage from nearby establishments to backtrack.

Earlier, Baldovino said they identified the owner of the dismembered body parts left outside the NBI-Bacolod office along Aguinaldo Street in Barangay 4 on March 1.

Baldovino refused to disclose the victim’s name, confirming that he was a resident of Bacolod and a drug suspect.

Investigators were able to establish the mutilation victim’s identity through fingerprints.

“It looks like he was involved in illegal drugs, based on the reports that were given to us,” Baldovino said.

They also believe that the assailants may be attempting to scare and discredit them, especially as the local NBI office is very active in targeting illegal gambling operators in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.

The NBI has also strengthened security on its premises./DGB, WDJ
