A government employee was shot to death outside his residence at Barangay Zone 12-A in Negros Occidental’s Talisay City yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality as 45-year-old Mike Lumawag, a city government employee under the treasury section.
Talisay police chief, Lt. Colonel Salvador Trono, Jr. said Lumawag had just come home after dropping off his child at school, when he was approached and shot by an unidentified motorcycle-riding suspect.
Police are yet to determine the motive for the murder.
Meanwhile, Talisay Mayor Nilo Jesus Antonio Neil Lizares III expressed his condolences to Lumawag’s family.
Lizares lamented Lumawag’s “senseless murder.”
He said such acts of violence have no place in Talisay, while assuring that the city police would prioritize the case.
The mayor also encourages residents who have information about the incident to assist in the police investigation.
