The suspect in the grenade explosion at a coffee shop at Barangay Rizal in Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City on Tuesday morning, February 27, was arrested.
San Carlos police chief Colonel Nazer Canja said the suspect was arrested in his residence in the city’s Barangay Punao a few hours after the incident.
A helmet and motorcycle allegedly used in the explosion were found in his possession, police said.
The suspect (identity withheld) is currently in police custody.
The filing of frustrated murder charges against the suspect is being prepared.
Three victims — identified as 75-year-old coffee shop owner Leonora Masaba; as well as 42-year-old Julius Masaba and 30-year-old Rochelle Larisma, who were assisting inside the establishment — were injured in the attack.
They are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Police are yet to determine the motive behind the incident./JB, WDJ
