The Social Security System (SSS) in Bacolod City issued show-cause orders against 14 delinquent employers in the city, as part of their Run After Contribution Evaders campaign.
Dr. Lilani Benedian, SSS Visayas West 1 Division vice president, said the delinquent employers failed to remit a total of P6.4 million in contributions for their employees.
Seven delinquent employers under SSS-Bacolod East Branch have failed to remit a total of P5.7 million in contribution for their 150 employees, while another seven employers under Bacolod branch also failed to remit a total of P616,000 for their 22 employees.
Based on Republic Act 11199, otherwise known as the Social Security Act of 2018, non-remittance of SSS contributions is a criminal offense.
If found guilty, contribution evaders could face a six- to 12-year jail sentence, and penalties of up to P20,000 or both./DGB, WDJ
