The Bacolod City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office has requested the city government to provide uniformed carts for ambulant vendors through a “rent-to-own” scheme.

Councilor Celia Flor, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on markets, said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez wanted uniformed carts and stalls for the vendors, following their request.

Flor said she agreed with the proposal, but she was not amenable to the proposed price of P27,000 per cart.

She said, for her, the ideal price was P10,000 for every cart.

“Maybe they have a reason why they came up with the P27,000 price,” Flor explained.

The councilor reminded that only carts with stickers are allowed to do business in the designated vending areas.

Only 27 slots were given to vendors, which allows them to do business in the area./MS, WDJ
