The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) reminded motorists and establishments that sidewalks are not parking spaces.
BTAO deputy officer-in-charge Jose Antonio Robello, while they strictly implement traffic ordinances, said sidewalks are not intended for vehicles.
“Sa mga establishments, indi gid pwede kabutang sang reserve sa parking spot, especially in public places because we have an ordinance to back-up,” Robello said.
“But when they argued, I presented to them the ordinance, then they agreed,” he added.
Robello said BTAO is intensifying their campaign against illegal parking.
“May kakulangan man ang gobyerno nga kuntani madugay na ini gin-enforce, but we are trying our best to implement the ordinances,” Robello said.
He added that Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez told them to extend consideration to motorists, especially during emergency situations.
