The Bacolod City government is mulling regulating the sale of Philippine National Police (PNP) and military uniforms.
Councilor Pao Sy, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on fire, social defense and natural disaster, said the proposed city ordinance, which seeks to regulate the sale of uniforms, has already passed on the first reading during the SP regular session last week.
Sy will request the Business Permits and Licensing Office for a list of stores that sell PNP and military uniforms.
They will be invited for a public hearing for the approval of the proposed city ordinance.
Under the proposed measure, buyers must secure certification from the PNP and the military, authorizing them to buy the uniforms.
This is to ensure that their uniforms will not be used again, she said.
Penalties will be imposed on violators.
Earlier, the PNP national office requested local government units to regulate uniform sales after cases of non-police personnel buying PNP uniforms that were also used in crimes./MS, WDJ
