The Negros Occidental provincial government facilitated the turnover of P3.3 million worth of agri-fishery projects and marketing fund assistance.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson — together with Board Members Rita Gatuslao and Jeffrey Tubola, along with provincial agriculturist Dr. Dina Genzola — expressed gratitude to local farmers and fisherfolk, recognizing their crucial role in ensuring food security and boosting agricultural productivity.
Lacson emphasized the province’s commitment to agricultural development, and affirmed the readiness of the provincial government to support the agriculture sector in addressing challenges such as climate change.
Implemented under the Coastal Fisheries Resources Management Program, the initiatives include the distribution of post-harvest equipment, computers, ID printers, marine protected areas marker buoys, and Global Positioning System navigational instruments.
The provided resources aim to empower beneficiaries, enhance efficiency, increase income, and minimize post-harvest losses.
The Livelihood Support and Marketing Fund Assistance Program provides financial aid for livelihood initiatives and marketing endeavors, benefiting rural women, rural improvement clubs, and agri-fishery organizations.
The event also recognized outstanding contributors in various categories, acknowledging their significant role in driving agricultural progress and innovation across Negros Occidental./DGB, WDJ
