The Bacolod City government expects more towing companies will be accredited.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) committee on laws, ordinances and good government, said officials from three towing service companies went to his office to secure requirements for accreditation.
Espino said they are proposing to extend their services as City Ordinance 1035, which identifies tow-away zones on various streets, has no exclusivity in accrediting towing companies.
He said these three companies are yet to propose their terms for revenue sharing.
Meanwhile, the SP approved the accreditation of Metro Towing Services (MTS) on Wednesday, February 7, after their accreditation lapsed on December 31, 2023.
Based on its contract, MTS will get a 75 percent income share from towing services, while 25 percent will be given to the city government.
He explained that the city government generates income from the towing services, as none of their personnel was extended in the implementation of the ordinance.
Espino said it is better to have multiple towing companies./MS, WDJ
