NegOcc ‘Liga ng mga Barangay’ elects new prexy

The Liga ng mga Barangay in Negros Occidental elected its new president at a hotel in Bacolod City yesterday morning.

Richard Sablan of Victorias City’s Barangay 2 was elected as the new Liga president.

Sablan will become an ex-officio member of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

He will be replacing Board Member Juvy Pepello, who also hails from Victorias.

Sablan said following his election, that he would continue the projects that Pepello had already implemented, particularly the campaign against illegal drugs.

He added that more than 400 out of the 601 villages in Negros Occidental have drug-cleared status.

Sablan also plans to visit every barangay in the province to allow village chiefs to forward their concerns.

Meanwhile, Anabella Bermudo of La Carlota City and Jerome Agustin of Cauayan town have been elected as vice president and auditor, respectively.

Elected as board of directors were Henry Alcorin of Don Salvador Benedicto, Marlon Malacon of E.B. Magalona, Elir Borres of Sipalay City, Ronnie Salo of Manapla, Freddie Mongcal of Hinigaran, Rico Regalia of Kabankalan City, Alfredo Martin Cui of San Carlos City, and Paul Leonard de Oca of Talisay City.
