A Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) station commander is now deepening the investigation into the source of the illegal drugs claimed by one of the arrested drug suspects in a buy-bust operation over the weekend.

Police Station 5 commander, Major Joery Puerto, said Zaldy “Kid” Tarug claimed that his supply of illegal drugs came from a certain “Intsik.”

Puerto said they have to verify if the person the suspect is referring to is an alias or a Chinese national engaged in the illegal drug trade.

He also confirmed that Tarug was receiving instructions from a drug lord who is currently serving prison time at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Tarug, along with his girlfriend, Jessa Quillan, were arrested after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover cop in Barangay Granada last January 6.

Police recovered a total of 21 plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P584,800 from the suspects.

Illegal drug charges against Tarug and Quillan have already been filed on Monday, January 8.

According to Puerto, Tarug has been under BCPO’s radar for quite some time.

He was also previously jailed on drug-related charges in 2015, and was released in 2021.

Quillan was also jailed in 2021 for illegal drug charges, but was released the following year./DGB, WDJ
