Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City is considered as a “drop-off point” for illegal drugs from neighboring Cebu province, based on the latest investigation and monitoring by the city’s police force.

In a radio interview yesterday morning, San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo said that when intensified anti-drug operations are conducted in Cebu province, the drug peddlers will transport their supplies of shabu to the city.

They will take their supplies back to Cebu once the situation cools off.

Gustilo said mandatory drug tests for San Carlos City government employees will continue to make sure that not one of them is involved in illegal drug activities.

Based on the results of mandatory drug tests conducted last month, nine city government employees were tested positive for illegal drugs — seven were job orders and two were regular employees.

Gustilo has also urged city police to intensify their monitoring for the arrests of individuals involved in illegal drug activities./DGB, WDJ
