Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez made clarification on the delay in releasing salaries of job order (JO) employees in the city government.
This came after reports circulated that JOs have yet to receive their salaries for December 2023.
Benitez clarified that the city government could not process their salaries immediately because December 30, the last day of their work, was already in the cut-off period.
“Indi nga wala mabayaran, kundi na cut-off sila sang December 30, [2023],” Benitez said.
The city government will have to process their salaries after the cut-off date.
Meanwhile, city administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the employees were not only affected by the delay, but also the JOs assigned under the Department of Public Services, particularly the street cleaners.
“Kanugon pa sang isa ka adlaw nila nga obra kun indi sila maswelduhan,” Gelvolea said./MS, WDJ
