The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts remained the dominant team in the secondary girls volleyball division of the Negros Occidental Private School Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) Meet.
The Thunderbolts ruled the 43rd Season of the Negros Occidental-qualifying competition after defeating the St. John’s Institute-Bacolod Lady Falcons in the finals at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Covered Court on Sunday, December 10.
Jothea Mae Ramos displayed her all-around performance for the defending Palarong Pambansa champion Thunderbolts as they will now move on to the District Meet with the victory.
Other members of the Thunderbolts squad are Joenil Ramos, Rhose Viane Almendralejo, Ana Francessca Hermosura, Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, Dona Mae de Leon, and Camila Amor Bartolome.
Completing the Bacolod Tay Tung squad handled by head coach Ian Macariola are Briana Ang, Jan Rose Bulak, Czarina Dosayla, Mary Antonette Bontia, and Rhea Tomas.
The Thunderbolts went undefeated during the preliminary round and also earned a twice-to-beat advantage in the championship round after beating their quarterfinals opponent.
“I can say that this group is the best Bacolod Tay Tung secondary girls volleyball team that we have assembled. We are complete in every position,” Thunderbolts team manager Jose Montalbo said.
Montalbo added he hopes the Thunderbolts squad will continue to develop chemistry among themselves, and possibly retaining the Palarong Pambansa crown for Region 6.
Meanwhile, St. John Institute-Bacolod Baby Falcons has unseated the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts in the championship round of the NOPSSCEA elementary girls volleyball tournament.
The Sheryl Laborte-mentored squad relied on their height and experience to dominate the Thunderbolts squad of head coach Roberto Calamba, Jr./ASC, WDJ
