An employee of a water district was shot to death at Barangay Cubay in Negros Occidental’s La Carlota City yesterday morning.

Wilbert Solina, La Carlota City Water District employee and a resident of the said locality, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the face and neck after an unidentified suspect, onboard a sports utility vehicle, opened fire at him, police said.

Solina was riding his motorcycle doing field work when the incident happened.

The suspect immediately sped away.

Solina was rushed to the Don Salvador Benedicto Hospital in the city, and transferred to a private hospital in Bacolod City.

Police have not recovered any empty shells from the crime scene.

They have yet to determine the type of firearm used in the incident.

The motive behind Solina’s murder is yet to be determined./DGB, WDJ
