First lady Liza Araneta-Marcos pledged support for the enhancement of the Bacolod City Public Plaza and fountain area at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said.

Benitez, during the thanksgiving night for media partners who covered the recently-concluded MassKara Festival on Monday, October 23, said he presented a proposal to Marcos during her visit to the city for the festivities.

He said she was readily committed to assisting in seeking funds for the project that aims to revamp and elevate the city’s iconic public plaza.

The improvements will encompass a pond and a floor fountain.

The design also incorporates a color laser projector for displaying images on the fountain.

It also emphasizes the use of water, lights and music that can be adapted for various seasons and annual events.

A pond-to-plaza transformation system is being considered for the BCGC fountain to facilitate public access during events.

Some Korean-based experts will oversee the spectacular lighting effects in both locations, offering additional attractions for tourists.

Benitez also shared a video presentation of the proposal on his Facebook page.

The realization of these enhancements awaits the availability of resources from the national government./DGB, WDJ
