Bacolod City’s Barangay Granada was the grand slam winner in the Street Dance and Arena Competition of the 44th MassKara Festival yesterday, defeating the other nine city villages in the contest.
Granada’s win this year is also “back-to-back,” as they also won last year’s Street Dance contest, following a two-year hiatus brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Granada also won the 2014, 2015 and 2016 competitions.
The village will take home the P1 million grand prize.
The performers were led by incumbent Granada village chief, Alfredo Talimodao, Jr. and award-winning choreographers Joedem Casabuena and Mark Philip Lamidez.
Granada also won the Best in Mask and Costume, Best in Theme/Concept, and Best in Music minor awards.
Barangay Tangub was 1st runner-up and they will be taking home the P500,000 cash prize, while Barangay Sum-ag was 2nd runner-up with P300,000 in cash.
Sum-ag also won the Best Introduction Video award./DGB, WDJ
