The remains of slain Negrense overseas Filipino worker, Loreta Alacre, will be on its way home this weekend, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said.
Lacson said Alacre’s remains are expected to arrive sometime around Sunday, October 22, based on the information provided by Riza Moldes, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Western Visayas director.
Lacson is yet to confirm if President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. will swing by and visit the Alacre family in Cadiz City’s Barangay Cadiz Viejo.
Marcos is expected to attend the highlights of the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City.
Recently, the Alacre family received cash aid amounting to P500,000 from the Office of the House Speaker.
The Cadiz City government also provided support to the bereaved family.
The Cadiz Sangguniang Panlungsod has also passed a resolution honoring Alacre as a modern-day hero of the city.
Alacre was killed in Kibbutz Re’im town in southern Israel last October 7, when the Palestinian-terror group Hamas attacked the Tribe of Nova Music Festival.
The attack killed at least 260 people, while dozens of the attendees were held captive./DGB, WDJ
