Choco Mucho Flying Titans bounced back from their opening day loss with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-17 rout of the Farm Fresh Foxies in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan on Thursday night, October 19.
Cherry Ann Rondina spearheaded the offense with 21 points, highlighted by 17 vicious attacks and three blocks. Desiree Cheng added 10 markers, while Caitlyn Viray and Madeleine Madayag each scored nine points for the Flying Titans (1-1).
The Flying Titans struggled to find their rhythm and bearing early in the opening set, but they managed to turn things around behind a huge 12-0 scoring blast to take a 1-0 set edge.
Choco Mucho never let up from there, dominating the Foxies with their power game, with setter Deanna Wong activating the rest of Choco Mucho’s hitters, including Cheng, Viray, Madayag, Kat Tolentino, Bea de Leon, and Cherry Nunag.
Trisha Tubu finished with 14 points, Kate Santiago added seven markers, while Joan Narit and Jade Gentapa combined for 12 points for the Foxies, which suffered their second consecutive loss.
On the other hand, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers surged to their second straight win after a 25-14, 25-15, 25-21 sweep of newcomer Galeries Tower Highrisers (0-2).
Ennajie Laure led the way with 15 points to go, along with nine excellent digs and four excellent sets. Ejiya Laure chipped in 12 points, while Jasmine Nabor tossed 14 excellent sets to go with seven points off three blocks, two attacks and two aces.
Building from their dominant win over the Foxies last Tuesday, October 17, the Crossovers took the first two sets with ease, but had to fight off the Dimdim Pacres-led Highrisers in the third frame to take the win.
Meanwhile, the PLDT High Speed Hitters recovered from their first game loss to score a 25-16, 25-16, 25-23 victory over the Akari Power Chargers. Both squads now have a 1-1 win-loss slate.
Savannah Davison top-scored for the High Speed Hitters with 19 points, including 14 attack points and three blocks, while Aklanon Dell Palomata added 13 markers, including 10 on quick attacks./ASC, WDJ
