The Bacolod City Local Market Committee (LMC) will blacklist public market vendors with pending payables with the city government.

City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr., during a meeting on Tuesday, October 3, said the LMC passed a resolution to blacklist vendors in Burgos, Central and Libertad markets with arrears.

Ting said the resolution also disqualifies them from joining any market stall raffles.

He said these vendors are making commitments to settle their accounts with the city government.

Ting has yet to give the exact figures on how many vendors will be blacklisted, while waiting for the list to be furnished by the City Treasurer’s Office.

According to Ting, the arrears ranged from P10,000 to P60,000, as the vendors failed to settle their monthly obligations with the city.

The resolution aims to give security for compliant market vendors who are paying their obligations.

Meanwhile, Ting said the city government has decided to establish a night market.

Councilor Celia Flor, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on markets, will hold a meeting for the market vendors along Mercedes and Amelia streets./MS, WDJ
